And now, for a song about a bukket...

The following was posted today on Haha.nu, a "lifestyle blogzine." I figured I had to share it.

This is Sarah the walrus. She lives at a zoo in Istanbul, Turkey. She's become a minor celebrity of late, due to her ability to "play" the alto saxophone.

A Dog and His Puppy

I can just see my own dog being like this when we have kids. This is the cutest thing I've seen all week!

A Different Kind of Panda

Rachel sent me this link to a picture, saying "I know there's already a panda up there, but I'm betting you don't have a red panda!" Well she's right.. so let's change that. Red pandas don't get nearly enough love as it is!

How cute is it that they stand on two feet like that? They will do that when they feel threatened in order to try and make themselves seem more imposing. Red pandas are actually closely related to skunks and raccoons, unlike the Great Panda which is classed as a type of bear. They're found in regions of Southern Asia, and eat mostly bamboo. Red pandas are currently considered an endangered species by the UN due to loss of habitat due to deforestation; they are poached for their fur, which is considered to be good luck.

Famous red pandas include Master Shifu in the fantastic Dreamworks film Kung Fu Panda, voiced by Dustin Hoffman.

Animal Love

There's just something about interspecies cuddling. The only thing that I can think of that is possibly cuter than puppies cuddling is puppies cuddling ducks, or pigs, or lions, or meese. My buddy Will suggested the following video of a puppy and his best friend, a duck. Make sure you watch to the very end- just when you think it can't get sweeter, it does.

Will also recommended a second video to me, one that I'd already seen, and which hails from my hometown of Vancouver. The two otters are named Nyac and Milo, and I've actually met them personally! Sadly, Nyac passed away this September, but this is great proof that she was very loved during her life.

BabyMamas

My sister-in-law's good friend Angela forwarded me the following pictures, among others.

There were a whole bunch of them and it was super hard to narrow them down to what I wanted to put on the site. I decided on the theme of babies and their mums, cause.. well, that's a cute theme, and this is a cute blog. There are a couple more pics in the Things That Are Cute Photobucket Account if you're interested :)

Just look at those eyes!

Oh, Pixar. Only you guys could make our hearts flip flop over a robot. (Well, you and GM.. remember that Superbowl commercial, y'all?)

I still haven't seen Wall-E, but I quite clearly need to get right on it.

Kitty cats

So these days, the trend in cuteness on the web is most definitely everything cats. I'd say the famous I Can Has Cheezburger and the growing notoriety of LOLspeak are responsible.

Well, I am nothing if not trendy, so this morning I bring to you some cute cat action in the form of Cats in Sinks! The premise of this site is very simple, and very appealing: it's just a whole bunch of cats and kittens photographed in sinks.

If you're a cat cohabitant, you can likely relate to this charming collection of pictures. One of my cats is a sink-dweller (that is, when it's clean). The other two prefer the bathtub.

So go on, immerse yourself in cute cat awesomeness!

Just to Prove it's Not All About Animals..

My buddy Will heard about the new blog and sent me some great links. Here I give you Joey, a little girl appearing on Sesame Street in 1972.

This one is of Joey singing her alphabet...with some creative changes. You can also watch her count to twenty or tickle Kermit.

Some Cute From My Own Life

This gorgeous specimen of dog is my very own pit bull, Emma. When browsing Petcetera several months ago, I found this dog toy that looked like a mini Em, and I had to get it for her.

Emma knows it as 'baby', and she is often found snuggling it happily.

Cuter Than a Baby Panda?

My best friend Juruz, whom I've recruited to help me with this site, sees my baby panda and raises me a baby polar bear:

I dunno, I'm not convinced personally. I think the baby panda takes it. What do you think?

The Inaugural Post.

So, Stumbling about the internet, I've come across several blogs that document things that are cute. Sadly, all of these blogs are now defunct, and haven't seen a new post in ages. After lamenting this fact for a while, I decided to do something about it.

Hence, Things That Are Cute.

I plan to use this space to post pictures of any and all things I come across that I find irresistibly adorable. The subject I personally consider cutest is baby animals (making me about as unique as dirt- pipe down, pedologists kthx). However, I totally am able to admit that the field of cute, while dominated by, is not limited to baby animals. miniature versions of furniture and funny hats also qualify! So please go ahead and send me photos of things you come across in your travels which have the ability to melt even the coldest of hearts.

Let's kick this party off with a baby panda. 'Cause really, what's cuter than a baby panda?

Yeah, that's what I thought.
